Children Disputes

At LPA we know that choosing a Solicitor to represent you in disputes about the arrangements for your children is important. We can reassure you that our solicitors have been specifically selected not only for their empathy but also their proactive litigation skills which ensure children’s needs are always placed first and staunchly defended.

We offer advice in relation to the following issues;

  • Child contact (Child Arrangement Order)
  • Residence or Child Custody (Child Arrangement Order)
  • Prohibited Steps Order proceedings preventing either parent from altering the status quo whilst the Court consider future arrangements
  • Specific Issue Order proceedings, for example determining the schooling arrangements for a child
  • Parental Responsibility
  • International Child Abduction

As one of the largest and longstanding Family Law Teams in East London we have spent many years forging links with leading Barristers Chambers who specialise in child contact and residence disputes. Six of our solicitors are members of the prestigious Law Society Children Panel.

We ensure that you have case plans which use plain English from the outset so you know what to expect from the proceedings together with timescales. We understand that even though we deal with these matters day in day out, our clients do not.

Our Specialist lawyers are members of Resolution. Resolution members sign up to a Code of Conduct which encourages a non confrontational approach to resolving disputes. We will not raise hostility unnecessarily and our experience shows that this is often the most effective way of reaching a cost proportionate settlement for our clients. As Family Lawyers we are part of your life for a snapshot in time but if we do not act in you or the children’s best interests at all times it can have far reaching consequences, we do not take that responsibility lightly.

LPA is a full service law firm and if you decide to instruct is for your Children matters we will also be able to assist you with all other legal issues that may follow on from that, Divorce and financial resolution, conveyancing or updating your will are common examples. The firm holds the ‘Special Quality Mark’ Accreditation to demonstrate to our clients that the firm operates to the highest standards in both our legal advice but also our internal processes.

If you decide to instruct LPA for your Divorce we make you the following service promises;
